Wash and cut the broccoli into even-sized florets. Mince or grate the garlic. If using, grate or shave the parmesan.

Add the water and cover the pan with a lid. Cook for about 3-5 minutes, flipping halfway, until the broccoli is tender-crisp but easy to pierce with a knife or a fork.
