Ingredients

Ingredients for garlic butter steak bites
  • Steak: For perfect steak bites, opt for a cut of beef with visible fat marbling. I like top sirloin steak, tenderloin, ribeye, or New York strip steak.
  • Butter: Unsalted
  • Garlic cloves
  • Olive Oil
  • Fresh Parsley: You can alternate this for any fresh green herbs, but parsley works best.
  • Seasonings: Salt, black pepper

How to make garlic butter steak bites

Prepare The Steak: Cut your chosen steak into bite-sized cubes, about 1 inch in size. Season well with salt and black pepper.

Cook The Steak Bites: Add the olive oil to a large cast iron skillet or large frying pan. Allow to heat to medium-high heat – a hot pan is the secret to perfect garlic butter steak bites. Once hot, add the bite-size pieces of steak and cook for 2 minutes on each side.

Add the butter and minced garlic to the pan and allow to cook for a further 2 minutes, until the garlic is fragrant. You don’t need to cook this separately – just add in the last two minutes so the garlic doesn’t burn.

Make sure the steak is completely coated in the garlic butter sauce, then remove from the pan, garnish with parsley, and serve.

Recipe tips

  • A hot pan is the best way to get juicy, delicious steak bites! Make sure the surface is at a medium-high temperature before adding the steak for a perfect sear.
  • Using fresh garlic will give a deeper, more intense flavor – especially when freshly minced.
  • Don’t touch the steak for the first minute or so of cooking – it’ll help it brown evenly and get a beautiful sear on the outside.
  • Let the steak bites rest before garnishing and serving for extra-juicy cooked steak bites.

I don’t usually eat steak — I’ve just never particularly liked it and it costs more than other meats. But I do love garlic and butter, and they made this very, very easy recipe worth the extra money. I will make this again soon!
