Reheating fries in an air fryer is a great way to avoid soggy leftovers and extend their shelf life – here’s my how-to guide.

Reheating French fries in an air fryer

Whether you’re working with takeout fries or my Air Fryer Frozen French Fries, air frying leftover fries is the best (and only) way to revitalize last night’s leftovers. Air fryers are fantastic for saving leftovers, reducing the amount of food waste you create, and giving crispy foods the same texture and crunch even a day after they were first cooked. This method is my fool-proof way of reheating fries in an air fryer and I can guarantee it works.

What is the best way to reheat french fries?

Reheat French fries in an air fryer for the best result. The air fryer is much faster and more efficient than other reheating methods you might use, like the microwave or an oven. Even better, the fries will regain their original crisp thanks to the air fryer’s cooking technique.

How to reheat french fries in the air fryer?

If needed, preheat the air fryer to 400ºF/200ºC. Place the fries in a single layer in the basket. You might need to do this in multiple batches so the leftover fries become as crisp as possible. You don’t need any extra oil, but if you want to add some extra flavors or seasoning, do that now.

Cook them for about 5-8 minutes or until the fries are crispy and heated through. The timings will depend on the size of your fries too. If reheating traditional, thin, and crispy French fries you may find they need less time in the air fryer. But if you have thicker steak cut fries, home-style fries, or pub fries, they will take longer to fully reheat.

Also, this method works with sweet potato fries, which can be notoriously difficult to crisp up while cooking.
