How to make kiwi juice with or without a blender – a wonderfully nutritious fruit juice with a sweet and sour flavor. Enjoy alone or combine with other juices for a refreshing, summer-ready fresh fruit juice!

A glass with kiwi juice

Here in the UK, we’ve just settled back to “usual British weather” after an earlier heatwave, but there’s already another one just around the corner – which means it’s the perfect time to enjoy refreshing fresh juice like this homemade kiwi juice! Learning how to make kiwi juice is super simple, can be done with or without a juicer, and can be enjoyed in tons of ways for a super tasty and nutritious treat!

Kiwi juice is naturally sweet and tart, perfect for enjoying alone or pairing with other ingredients (like a kiwi strawberry juice). Also, depending on how sweet vs. sour you want the kiwifruit juice to be, no added sugar is necessary (but optional, if you like). Plus, you can enjoy juicing kiwi and enjoy it with or without the pulp.

What Are Kiwi Juice Benefits?

While kiwis may be small, they manage to pack a ton of health benefits (and flavor!). Here are just a few of the health benefits of kiwi fruit:

  • Packed with vitamins and minerals – including vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, potassium, folate, etc.
  • In fact, kiwi juice contains more than 200% of the daily recommended vitamin C!
  • Likewise packed with antioxidants to prevent cell damage due to oxidization.
  • Kiwi juice is also low in calories – with about 50kcal per serving!
  • Contains anti-inflammatory properties, thanks to the vitamin E and polyphenols in the kiwi juice. This is great for inflammation-based pain and symptoms.
  • Kiwi juice also contains heart-healthy benefits, including reducing the risk of clots and reducing blood pressure levels.
  • Plus, some research has been carried out that shows a link between kiwis and the reduction of chest issues. This includes asthma, wheezing, prolonged coughing, etc.
  • It can also boost digestion. Thanks to the enzyme “actinidin,” kiwi juice can help your stomach work less to digest.

And more! Just make sure that you aren’t allergic before consuming a glass of kiwi fruit juice!

The Kiwi Juice Ingredients

  • Kiwi: for the simple kiwi juice recipe, all you need are some fresh, ripe kiwi.
  • Sweetener: (optional) if you’re making this juice with particularly sour fruits, you can add a little sweetener. I recommend using a liquid option like maple, agave, or honey.

Optional Add-Ins

  • Greens: since this fresh kiwi juice is already green, adding a big handful of spinach or kale is an excellent way to up the nutrients without impacting the flavor too much.
  • Lemon/Lime: if the kiwi juice is sweet, then a little fresh lemon or lime juice adds a burst of freshness and a slight tang.
  • Coconut water: add coconut water to dilute the juice to your desired flavor.
  • Water: you can slightly dilute the kiwi fruit juice with still or sparkling water. Tonic water could also work.
  • Apple: apple and kiwi are a match made in heaven. Use around 2 apples per 1 cup apple juice (using a juicer) and combine with blended kiwi (not drained or drained).
  • Celery/Cucumber: I love to use celery or cucumber as a refreshing and neutral addition to this kiwi juice recipe that will dilute the intense flavors while also packing in tons of nutrition.
  • Simple kiwi green juice: per serving, combine one kiwi, 1 sweet green apple (like gala apples) or pear, and 1/3-1/2 cucumber. It’s easiest to make this with a juicer.
  • Other fruits: kiwi will also pair well with orange, mango, pineapple, grapes, guava, or even berries.
  • Pulpy juice: make with or without the skins and add a little water/coconut water when blending.
  • Herbs: serve the fresh kiwi juice with herbs like mint or basil.
  • Alcohol: for a simple summer cocktail, combine this fresh kiwi fruit juice with vodka, rum, or gin.

How to Make Kiwi Juice

First, prepare the kiwi by cleaning them. If I’m juicing kiwi whole, I like to scrub them with the abrasive side of a sponge, which will remove lots of the “hairs” on the outside of the fruit. Alternatively, you can peel the skin but you’ll lose nutrients that way.

Once clean, cut off the hard stem “tops.”

Using a Blender/Immersion Blender

Place all the kiwis either in a bowl (when using an immersion blender) or blender and blend until smooth. Try not to over blend, so the seeds are not too broken up.

Steps for making kiwi juice

You can enjoy the kiwi juice with the pulp/seeds and top it up with water/coconut water or another juice. Alternatively, for a pulp-free kiwi juice, strain it.

Pour the juice into a nut milk bag and manually squeeze it to get out as much liquid as possible.

Using a Juicer

I tend to only use a juicer for kiwi juice when combining it with other ingredients like celery, apples, etc. Simply cut the kiwi into pieces big enough to fit the juicer chute (with or without the skin) and juice.

How to Store

Store: I recommend drinking the kiwi juice within 24 hours for the best flavor and nutrient levels. However, the leftover juice will last up to 3 days in the refrigerator.

Freeze: Freeze any leftover kiwi juice as quickly as possible for optimal nutrient retention. I recommend doing so in ice-cube trays for ‘portioned’ amounts of juice. Then add the ice cubes directly to juices, smoothies, and slushies – or allow them to thaw in the fridge before enjoying.

FAQs

How much kiwi juice should I drink daily?

I recommend drinking one serving per day, which is around 1 glass (using 2-3 kiwi). However, since kiwi contains natural sugars, you still don’t want to overindulge in the fruit juice.

How can I use kiwi pulp?

There’s definitely no need to throw this away. Instead, add it to smoothies, baked goods (like bread, muffins, crackers), or compost it. Alternatively, allow it to dry out, and then you can even plant the seeds.
You can also freeze the pulp as ice cubes to add to glasses of fruit juice, smoothies, etc.

Recipe Tips

  • Enjoy pulpy or smooth: the pulp adds extra fiber and nutrients. However, I know some people don’t like the additional texture. When blending, it’s as simple as straining the juice for smooth results.
  • If the juice is bitter: then feel free to either add a sweeter fruit juice with it or add a little unrefined sweetener like maple, agave, or honey.
  • Selecting the best kiwis: it’s best to use ripe kiwis without being overripe (too soft). Use kiwis during their season for the best flavor. Off-season kiwis may require an additional sweetener.
  • Make kiwi popsicles: you can pour the kiwi juice (pulp included) into popsicle molds for an all-natural refreshing summer treat.

    1. I was wondering what to do with all those kiwi’s which were ripening to quickly.
Excellent idea to blend with mango, pears, I added about half cup water and half cup juice blend with honey to remove some of the tartness added crushed ice and what a nice tasty juice.
