This strawberry Nutella pizza with a granola crust is the perfect sweet pizza treat for breakfast, a snack, or dessert. Using homemade all-natural Nutella and fresh strawberries. Plus, this recipe can be made vegan and gluten-free!
Dessert Pizzas are officially my ‘thing’ this summer. Luckily, this strawberry Nutella pizza takes a slightly healthier stance, foregoing the dough for a granola base and homemade Nutella – Paired with fresh, in-season strawberries. The result? – A strawberry pizza that can be eaten for breakfast, a snack, or dessert.
Plus, the homemade Nutella uses all-natural ingredients, refined sugar-free, dairy-free, vegan, and gluten-free – and far better than store-bought varieties. But don’t worry – it definitely doesn’t sacrifice flavor. I’ve combined the sweet, cacao-rich chocolate spread with fresh strawberries for a sweet pizza that hit’s the spot without being too sickly sweet.
All you need to make this chocolate pizza is just 9 ingredients and less than half an hour and you can whip up a strawberry Nutella pizza (or lots of little ones) worthy of the entire family. Plus, you can even make the pizza base in advance (undecorated) for a breakfast that takes just minutes to prepare, when needed.
The Ingredients
The Granola Pizza Crust
- Spelt Flakes – You could also use rolled oats (use certified gluten-free if needed)
- Banana – You could also use applesauce in its place.
- Hazelnuts – feel free to swap these out for your favorite nut of choice, such as almond, cashew, walnut, etc.
- Almond butter – hazelnut butter would also work well.
- Coconut oil – will help to solidify the crust
- Honey – For a vegan version you could use some dates (or other sticky dried fruit)
- Vanilla extract
- Salt
The Pizza Toppings
Homemade Nutella – You can also use a store-bought chocolate hazelnut spread if that’s all that’s available to you. Just try to look for ones with a fairly ‘clean’ ingredients list.
Fresh Strawberries – It’s best to use fresh, in-season strawberries
Hazelnuts – Optional, but nice to add a little extra crunch to the toppings.
Optional Extras
Luckily, when it comes to chocolate pizza, there are SO many ingredients that work well with chocolate.
Top with other fresh fruits; such as banana, blueberries, apple, orange, other berries, etc.
You can also sprinkle the pizza with extras like shredded coconut (toasted or raw).
Or, how about double or triple chocolate? you could add some shredded/ melted Milk Chocolate or White Chocolate.
You can also drizzle the pizza with optional Strawberry Syrup and serve it alongside ice cream.
Step By Step Instructions
First, roughly chop the hazelnuts and mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
In a separate small bowl, mash the banana and mix with the other wet ingredients
Combine all the ingredients together and mix well. Then, spread over a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. I used a pizza pan- however, you could also use a square, or use a rectangle and simply shape it into a circle/square within the tray.
Bake in the oven for about 10 minutes at 170ºC/350ºF. Keep an eye on the base the last few minutes so it doesn’t burn. It just needs to be a pale golden brown.
Set aside to cool down. Then spread over it the homemade Nutella. Top with strawberries and a few extra hazelnuts.
Once removed from the oven, set aside and allow to cool completely.
When cooled, top the sweet pizza with some Nutella, -optionally- extra crushed hazelnuts and strawberries on top.
Use a pizza cutter to slice as you would normal pizza and serve- enjoy!
How To Store
Once prepared, the baked granola crust can be stored, wrapped tightly, in the fridge for between 1-2 weeks or frozen for up to 2 months.
Once you’ve prepared the pizza with toppings, then it is best eaten immediately, or within a few hours. If you’re not eating it immediately, then keep it in the fridge until it’s ready to be eaten.
Make sure to keep them tightly wrapped when in the fridge/freezer, as granola will absorb fridge odors.

Hi Dorainne,
You would need ½ cup applesauce for 1 banana.
I hope this helps, let me know how it came out. 🙂
