At Christmas, so much time is spent focusing on food. However, with all the focus on Christmas lunch, not much time is dedicated to Christmas breakfast ideas. These 9 Christmas healthy toast recipes are great easy Christmas recipes for children too. They’re an excellent option for a fun and easy Christmas day breakfast for all!

With hours of kitchen time ahead and a long list of tasks, it can be hard to think about Christmas breakfast ideas. However, I genuinely feel sad when people tell me that they have cereal on Christmas morning… or worse, nothing at all! I sincerely believe the festive spirit should be a part of every single meal that day!

Plus, I love that you can get the children involved. And hopefully, the kids will love to be involved too. Even if they’re destined to be shooed from the kitchen later on, I love that breakfast can bring everyone together.

After all Christmas is a family event! Easy Christmas recipes for children are the perfect way to get them involved and start the day off right!

In fact, these nine festive Christmas toast recipes are perfect for the whole festive season. They can be eaten for breakfast, lunch or snack at any time of day. Or even at gatherings and parties, as part of a Christmas breakfast platter.

These healthy toast recipes are a great way to encourage children to eat more fruits and healthy spreads. They are all also 100% Vegan. I even used homemade seeded bread and found a way to sneak in a cheeky avocado health toast too.

The Christmas Toast Recipes:

  1. Cashew butter, homemade vegan Nutella + banana and strawberry 
  2. Cranberry Sauce + dragonfruit snowflakes
  3. Tahini + Avocado Stars 
  4. Almond butter + Kiwi trees 
  5. Cashew butter Reindeer
  6. Nutella style spread + pomegranate tree
  7. Pumpkin seed butter + strawberry stars

All of these toasts are prepared with homemade spreads and fresh fruit. Although this isn’t necessary, it’s a great way to get the whole family in the kitchen before the big day.

Preparing the various nut butter recipes etc. is super simple and takes no time at all.  The nut butter recipes you use are also all exchangeable. You can see my comprehensive guide to nut butters and mix ad match as you please and according to taste.

How to make the 9 Christmas toast recipes:

Santa Bear – Cashew butter, Nutella & Fruit toast

This first Christmas toast recipe is probably the richest of all the options. However, it is still healthy and combined homemade cashew butter and vegan Nutella to make a cute bear face. You then simply use some sliced banana and half a strawberry for the nose and Santa hat. 

This is a great option for a Christmas day breakfast to keep everyone full through to lunchtime.

I sometimes also sprinkle a little coconut over the ‘beard’ area because, why not. 

Note* With all of these toasts, I will serve them along with extra fruit, so none goes to waste.

Cranberry Sauce + Dragonfruit Snowflakes Toast

This is a bit of an unusual use of cranberry sauce, but I love it. Cranberry sauce is festive and tangy without being too sweet. Plus, it’s an excellent option for those unable to eat nut butters. Also, using homemade cranberry sauce allows you to be in control of exactly how much sugar is in the recipe.

For a lovely festive touch, I decided on dragonfruit to cut into snowflakes. This increases fruit intake and the nutritious value of the toast. Also, dragonfruit has a very subtle taste and works well with the strong cranberry flavour. 

Otherwise, you can always use your favourite red jam of choice.

Tahini + Avocado Stars

It was inevitable that in one way or another, there would be an avocado toast option within this list. 

Some people might find this a bit of an odd choice but this simple healthy toast recipe combined homemade tahini and avocado. Tahini isn’t the most obvious choice as a toast topper, apart from within a trusty hummus recipe, but I love it.

For a sweet version, you can swap the avocado for apple and some maple syrup or date syrup.

Almond butter + Kiwi trees

Homemade almond butter is probably one of my absolute favourite nut butter options. It’s delicious, healthy and incredibly versatile. Plus, it can be flavoured and customised in so many ways. The kiwi trees give it a lovely festive touch.

This combination of healthy toast toppings is also one of my favourite from the nine choices. It combines the healthy fats and taste of almond butter with healthy fruit. If you want to experiment with other fruits, then I suggest using smaller cutters ( stars, perhaps) with strawberries, banana or apple.

Homemade Nut butter Reindeer Toast

The festive reindeer toast is another favourite of mine on this list because it’s adorable. I made this toast using homemade cashew butter but feel free to swap it with another nut butter of your choice.

The nose is a raspberry, the eyes are blueberries and cute little pretzels for antlers. 

Nutella style spread + pomegranate tree

This toast is a favourite for children – I mean, who doesn’t love Nutella? Except this homemade Nutella is a healthy homemade cocoa hazelnut butter with no refined sugar. 

Delicious Nutella, combined with the tangy juice of pomegranate seeds is a delicious and nutritious breakfast option.

Pumpkin seed butter + strawberry stars

Homemade pumpkin seed butter is another unusual spread choice to many. However, you wouldn’t believe how much of a nutritious powerhouse pumpkin seeds are. Plus you can drizzle a little natural sweetener such as maple syrup over the pumpkin seed butter for a sweeter variety.

The savoury taste of the pumpkin seed butter combined with sweet strawberry stars is delicious. This healthy toast is a red and green homage to Christmas.

For all coconut lovers out there, this is a delicious choice of these easy Christmas breakfast ideas. After lots of experiments, I finally have a homemade coconut yogurt recipe that is thick, creamy and delicious. 

The coconut and cherry combo is an absolute classic and is sure to delight. Adding a sprinkle of cinnamon to the coconut yogurt is even better! Plus, I use homemade desiccated coconut too, which is wonderful.

Peanut Butter Bear + Blueberries and Banana Toast

Last but not least is another Christmas bear – This healthy toast is using homemade peanut butter with banana and blueberries. If there are any peanut allergies to worry about, then feel free to use a different homemade butter. 

I sometimes sprinkle a little coconut on the bottom of the toast for a little Christmas beard.
